All beginning is difficult

Dieser Post ist vorallem an alle zukünftige ATS gerichtet!

Den Titel dieses Posts kann ich genau so bestätigen. Der Anfang eines Auslandjahres ist (so war es jedenfalls bei mir) der schwerste Teil. Also bleibt positiv und habt euer Ziel, das Auslandsjahr, immer vor Augen.🤩 Am Anfang muss man sich erstmal selber darüber klar werden, ob das ganze nur eine Phase ist oder ob man wirklich für 10 Monate in ein komplett fremdes Land gehen will. Ich kann euch sagen richtig sicher ist man sich nie! Ich bin mir immer noch manchmal unsicher und frag mich was zur Hölle ich eigentlich mache, aber die Vorfreude siegt immer wieder und immer wenn ich an mein Auslandsjahr denke muss ich einfach grinsen.😄
Dann muss man seine Eltern überzeugen und wie die reagieren kommt einfach auf eure Eltern drauf an. Erzählt euren Eltern einfach von eurer Idee und bleibt hartnäckig, auch wenn sie strikt dagegen sind. (Am besten ist es wenn ihr euch schon davor etwas informiert und selber einen kleinen Plan habt was das kostet und wie das abläuft.) Macht euch davor keinen zu großen Kopf! Schlimmer als ein Nein kann es nivht werden! Ich weiß der Tipp ist leichter gesagt als getan, aber auch ich bekam den Tipp und hab dann einfach meinen Mut zusammen genommen und sie gefragt. Sie waren nicht sofort einverstanden und es hat echt lang gebraucht bis ich es durchsetzen konnte😣 Also: Bleibt drann!!
Dann gibt es noch das Problem mit der Organisation. Ich hab mich ziemlich viel im Internet informiert und von gefühlt jeder Orga die Website angeschaut. Letzendlich ist das ganze auch Länder abhängig, desswegen solltet ihr euch schon davor ungefähr im klaren darüber sein wo ihr hinwollt, da nicht jede Orga jedes Land anbietet. Für Finnland gibt es zum Beispiel nicht so viele Orgas wie für die USA oder Kanada. (Ist ja auch irgendwie logisch😂) Ich war dann auch auf der JuBi- Messe und bin mit nem Stapel von Broschüren wieder heimgefahren. Wirklich geholfen hat mir das aber nicht, da ich die meisten Infos schon durch die Websites kannte und mich eh schon in meine Orga verliebt habe. Experiment e.V.😍 Ich bin bis jetz super zufrieden mit meiner Wahl und könnte mir keine bessere Orga vorstellen!
Bei der Auswahl solltet ihr sorgfältig sein und alle Vor- und Nachteile abwägen. Es kann auch sehr helfen Erfahrungsberichte im Intenet zu lesen!
Ja und dann kommt die Bewerbungsphase und ich muss sagen ich bin echt froh, dass ich das schon lange hinter mir habe.💪🏻Als erstes musste ich eine ziemlich ausführliche Anmeldung ausfüllen. Das ist aber bei jeder Orga unterschiedlich. Bei manchen muss man nur Name, Alter, Ausreisejahr, Wunschland usw. angeben. Ich hab mich für Schweden und als zweite Wahl Norwegen beworben. Es kam dann ziemlich schnell der Anruf von Experiment und mir wurde gesagt, dass ich für Schweden zu jung bin und Norwegen schon voll ist.😭 Mir wurde dann Dänemark oder Finnland vorgeschlagen, da diese Länder ja auch zu Skandinavien gehören oder nochmal über ein ganz anderes Land nachzudenken. Ich hab mich dann eben für Finnland entschieden und es kam dann auch bald die Einladung zu meinem Vorstellungsgespräch. Und jetzt kommt der Tipp den ihr wahrscheinlich schon hundert mal gehört habt, der aber einfach stimmt: Seid nicht nervös! Es ist überhaupt nicht schlimm! Aber auch wenn ich das selber immer gesagt bekam war ich unglaublich aufgeregt. Und dann war ich an dem Tag auch noch ziemlich krank sodass ich echt Angst hatte, dass ich den Tag nicht übersteh. Aber was soll ich sagen, ich leb immer noch!😂 Mein Gespräch hatte ich in einem Café mit einer sehr netten jungen Frau. Sie hat mir ziemlich viel gefragt und ich hab halt so gut es ging geantwortet. Dann kam der Teil vor dem ich am meisten Angst hatte: Der englische Teil.😭 Ich musste meinen typischen Tag aud Englisch sagen. Das waren ungefähr zwei Sätze! Und das hat gereicht und dann wars auch schon wieder vorbei. Also all die Aufregung umsonst. Achja ich hab währendessen einen Tee getrunken und der wurde von Experiment bezahlt, also die sind echt super😉 Dann wurden mir ziemlich schnell die Verträge und Platzierungsunterlagen zugeschickt. Die sind auf Englisch und ihr müsst euch und eure Familie vorstellen und ziemlich viele Fragen beantworte. Dann braucht ihr so einen Bescheid vom Arzt, ein schulisches Gutachten, Bilder, Reisepass und die Regeln müssen unterschrieben werden. Und das war echt anstrengend. Macht das bitte ordentlich und antwortet ehrlich auf alle Fragen! Nur so kann eine perfekte Gastfamilie gefunden werden. Das schwierigste ist wahrscheinlich der Gastfamilienbrief, aber lasst euch da einfach bisschen inspirieren von anderen.😉(Villeicht finde ich meinen noch dann füg ich ein Bild ein) Als ich die nach ca 3 Wochen abgeschickt hatte begann das warten. Ich musste dann noch ein Vorstellungsvideo drehen, was mir ziemlich Spaß gemacht hat.😊 Und dann ging das warten weiter und das abchecken des E-mail Postfaches.

So dass war glaub ich erstmal alles zu meiner Bewerbung. Ich kann natürlich nur von dem Ablauf bei meiner Orga sprechen, aber ich denke das ist überall ziemlich ähnlich. Und ich muss sagen auch wenn ich teilweise echt genervt von dem ganzen war, wurde mein Traum auch immer realer und die Vorfreude wuchs immer mehr. Aber so richtig realisiert hab ich es immer noch nicht😍

                     My host family letter

I can really confirm the title of the post! The beginning  of a year abroad is the hardest part. So, stay positive and have your aim, the exchange year, always in mind.🤩
At first you have to reflect whether this is only a short phase or if you really want to go to a completely different, foreign country for ten months. I can tell you, you will never be sure about that! I am still uncertain and wonder what the hell I am doing, but the anticipation wins again and again and whenever I think of my year abroad I just grin.😄
Then you have to convince your parents and how they will react simply depends on your parents. Just tell your parents about your idea and stay persistent, even if they are strictly against it. (It's best if you have already informed yourself about an exchange year ) Don't worry too much about talking to your parents! It can not be worse than a No! I know I can say this easily, but I also got this tip and I took all my courage and asked. They did not immediately agree and it took a really long time until I could enforce it.😫
Then there is the problem with the organisation. I informed me at the internet and looked at a lot of websites and forums. The organisation depends on the host country that you choosed, because you can't go to every country with every organisation. Then I was at the "JuBi-Messe" and drove home with a stack of brochures. But that didn't help me so much, because I already knew most of the informations through the websites an fell in love with my organisation: Experiment e.V! 😍  I am very happy with my choice and couldn't imagine a better organisation!
When you choose you should be careful and look at all pros and cons. Reading reports in the internet can be also very helpfully.
Now I will write about the hardest part. The application. I have to say that I am very glad that I've already done it.💪🏻 First I had to fill out a very detailed registration, but that is different for each organisation. For some you only have to write your name, age, host country... I apllied for Sweden and Norway, but I got a call from Experiment very fast and I was told that I am too young for Sweden and there isn't no more place for Norway.😭 So I decided to go to Finland and I am so lucky with this beautiful country! Soon I got my invation for my interview.
And now I give you the tip that you have probably heard a thousand times, but it's true: Don't be nervous! It isn't difficult! But even if I always heard that, I was incredibly nervous. When the day came I was sick an thought I won't survive this day. But I am still alive!😂 I had my interview in a cafe with a very nice young woman. She asked me a lot and I tried to answer as good as I could. Then came the part I was most afraid of: the English part😢
I had to tell my typical day. I only said two sentences! That was enough and it was over. All the excitement for nothing! I got the contract and the placement documents. They are in English and I had to introduce myself and my family and answer a lot if question. You need a document from your doctor and your school, pictures, passport and the rules must be signed. That was very exhausting. Do this thoroughly and answer honestly to all the question. Only in this way the organisation will find the perfect family. For me the hardest part was to write the letter for the host family. You can inspire you by others😉( maybe I will find my lezter then I will add a pictures) I finished the application after three weeks and started to wait for my host family. Then I had to make a video about me.😊 After that I started check out my e-mails ever day!
Of course I can only tell you about the process at my organisation! At last I have to say that even though I was really desperate sometimes, my dream became more and more real.😍
